Beautiful. Prayer seems to have great power - for the individual and for society. It appears to be a vehicle for change, something which can move events forward, both in our inner lives and in the world outside.

Rudolph Steiner advised that we should say the Lord's Prayer every day because of 'the tremendously powerful effect it has in the soul' and he described it as a thought mantram [sic?] because the action and effect of the Lord's Prayer is cast into thoughts and gives them power, whether or not the individual praying is aware of the fact or not.

He paraphrases this view : 'If we live in the kind of way demanded by the Lord's Prayer it will enable us to live our way upwards through the dominions, principalities and powers right up to the cherubim and seraphim, as far as the Godhead itself.'

Perhaps simple prayer has a meaning for the New Age and can help carry us forward in our lives, whatever our individual beliefs.
